How to change permissions (chmod) of a file using File Manager

Permissions can be a very important thing when it comes to your hosting account. Some permissions need to be set to allow certain files to write to it. Along with that, some files need to be perfected from writing to it for security. You can change the permissions in many ways. One of the easy and basic ways to change the permissions is through File manager in cPanel. To change the permissions for a file or folder in cpanel, please do the following:

1. Click File Manager
2. Click the name of the file for which you would like to change the permissions for.
3. Select the Change Permissions link at the top right of the page.
4. Select the permissions you would like to set for the file.
5. Click Change Permissions

You have just changed the permissions for a file using File Manager. Please note, You can also change permissions through FTP and SSH.
